For dental implants to be successful, there must be enough bone to support them.

You might not have enough bone from tooth loss or from periodontal (gum) disease, trauma, or injury. This is where we would advise a Synthetic Bone Graft.

The synthetic bone graft is a term used to describe a procedure using a hydroxyapatite or other naturally occurring and biocompatible substance with similar mechanical properties to the bone, to “build” bone so that dental implants can be placed.

These procedures typically involve grafting (adding) these bonelike materials to the jaw and waiting for the grafted material to fuse with the existing bone over several months.

There are several different procedures that can be used for bone augmentation. We can recommend a procedure depending on the type, location, and a number of implants to be used and discuss all of the options available to you.
